Skip The Five-Star Hotels And Stay At Bong Sen Hotel Saigon

If you’re traveling solo, or simply looking for an inexpensive place to rest your head, Bong Sen Hotel Saigon is an excellent choice. A 3-star hotel with prices slightly above backpacker-rates, Bong Sen Hotel Saigon is located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The Sheraton, Park Hyatt, and the Caravelle Hotel are nearby favorites, but they all come at a significantly higher ticket price. In a city lacking quality mid-range hotels, Bong Sen Hotel Saigon fills the need.

The hotel is located in District 1, just a short walk from the Opera House, the river, Notre Dame Cathedral, Reunification Palace, excellent restaurants and much more. What you’ll get at Bong Sen is a perfect location without any frills. The hotel has two restaurants, and a small spa and exercise room. There is no pool, the rooms are simple, and the hotel caters heavily to business travelers on a budget.

Upgrade Your Room

All of the hotels’ 127 rooms are clean, well-maintained, air-conditioned, and offer free wireless internet. Many of the rooms that do not face the entrance of the hotel have views of concrete walls, or have no windows at all. Some guests prefer these rooms, as they limit late night street noise from vendors and street traffic.

We recommend that you pay for a room facing Dong Khoi Street. Rooms facing the street have small balconies with views of the hustle and bustle of HCMC. Many of these rooms have been recently renovated. The hotel staff is courteous and efficient, and overall, you get what you pay for.

Two Quality Restaurants

The Green Leaf Cafe on the hotel’s 1st floor is a great place to grab a quick lunch or a cup of coffee while you watch business travelers and solo tourists coming in and out. The cafe fills with coffee drinkers in the morning, and weary cocktail-toting business travelers in the evenings.

The complimentary breakfast buffet at the Lotus Center (7th floor) is a surprisingly good restaurant choice. Serving local delicacies and international cuisine 24 hours a day, the Lotus Center is a great breakfast and late-night food spot.

You’re Paying For Location

The small faults of this hotel, such as cigarette smells, bathrooms in need of renovation, and some of the standard faults of many 3-star hotels are easily overlooked when the value of the location is taken into account. Nothing flashy here, just comfort and affordability. For a fraction of the cost of some of the nearby hotel giants, Bong Sen Hotel gives you easy access to the best of Ho Chi Minh City.
