Dam Sen Water Park in Ho Chi Minh City

Dam Sen Water Park

Dam Sen Park is a beautiful, well-manicured park located just 30 minutes outside of Ho Chi Minh City’s center in District 11. While Dam Sen Park features a rollercoaster, ferris wheel, paddle-boats, and endless opportunities for relaxation, the most-popular attraction at Dam Sen Park is Dam Sen Water Park. Taxi or bus your way from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City’s center out to Dam Sen Water Park, where you’ll find a welcome respite from the city’s crowds and the heat of the city.

While Dam Sen Water Park may not be a destination for tourists who plan on spending several days in Ho Chi Minh City, it’s a fantastic family-friendly diversion for locals and those looking to escape the summer’s endless heat.

Dam Sen Water Park caters to families and children surprisingly well. The park is clean, well-maintained, and amply staffed. The colorful Children’s Pool features several independent slides, and a “castle” which hosts several slides. The park is well-staffed by friendly and helpful lifeguards, and handles groups of children very well. Many visitors feel comfortable letting their children roam the park unattended.

Adults will find thrills at the Boomerang, Giant Slide, Wild River, and the zip-line. The Boomerang is 3-person max slide that shoots thrill-seekers into a half-pipe design, that eventually funnels your tube into a giant pool. Boomerang opened in 2010, and is the most recent addition to the park. Those looking for relaxation will find the shaded Massage Pool (giant hot tub), and Wandering River to do the trick. Wandering River, a standard-fare 400 meter “lazy river,” traverses the perimeter of the park.

Though the park officially states that they prohibit outside food, many families, and locals bring their own. The park’s food is cheap and plentiful, though not one of Ho Chi Minh City’s better culinary experiences. The park offers free lockers, and several locker rooms, including a “foreigner” changing area. The foreigner locker room is located up a few stairs, near the Kamikaze slide. Dam Sen Water Park has a strict policy on metal on any swimsuit. Swimming shorts are available for rent.

The park’s real draw is in its value. Entrance fees cost 100,000 VND for adults and 60,000 VND for kids. A taxi from the city should run you around 100,000 – 120,000 VND, making for an inexpensive half-day trip. For travelers looking for a better bargain, catch one of the many buses that run between Ban Thanh Market and Dam Sen all day. Bus 11′s last stop will drop you off at Dam Sen Park’s front entrance. Nha Trang’s Vinpearl Land is a newer and larger water park, but with short lines, easy access to-and-from the city center, and low ticket pricing, Dam Sen Water Park is surely a better value.
